Tell a story with this great conceptual show. The performers line up across the field with the shimmering guard running through to the sounds of the twinkling metallics of the front ensemble. As the warm chords build, the energetic opener - Sunday Morning from Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes - mimics the grand flow of the perpetually running waters. The dynamic middle portion of the show includes some strains from Garth Brooks' beautiful epic ballad The River. However, the raging waters can't be contained during the menacing and angular Bartok piano piece Allegro Barbaro. After a chorale-like return to the Brooks' song, the show ends in the same direction of the mighty Mississippi - in New Orleans, LA for a NOLA-style street crawl! Our big band arrangement of Down By the Riverside has some solo opportunities for young jazzers, a great shout section, and ties this production together from the beginning of the river to a great season's end!
